More Than a Map - Built to Give, Not Just Sell
When you buy a Hi-Kine map, you’re not just getting something cool to help you explore Hawaiʻi, you’re backing a business that’s doing real good in the islands. We’re taking old surfboards that were headed for the dump and turning them into beach cleanup stations. We’re giving a portion of every map sale to local Hawaiian organizations doing important work. And we’re building this thing with the goal of giving back more than we take…something most companies don’t even think about. This is about more than just maps. It’s about doing things the right way and using business as a force for good.
Eco Friendly
Our folded maps are made of stone paper which offer many benefits over traditional art paper. Stone paper is more environmentally friendly over traditional paper which uses wood pulp as its raw material.
Stone paper:
- Produced without using water
-Made by using only recycled materials (no deforestation, 100% tree free)
-Made with solar power
-Resistant to tearing and water
-Produced without any added chemicals
If you want to dispose of your map (but why not keep it for your next visit?) when finished, recycle it as if it were No. 2 plastic to ensure proper disposal and recycle; keep in mind, stone paper degrades in 6 to 12 months in sunlight.
